Learn About Retinal Scanning

Annual visits to the optometrist are important to the overall health of your eyes. Dr. Lisa Walker, Optometrist understands the importance of retinal imaging and scanning and implements that as a part of her routine eye exams.

Retinal scanning helps detect early signs of damage to the retina and can detect retinal abnormalities. It allows the doctor to get a much wider digital view of the retina. It doesn’t replace a regular exam but adds another layer of precision to it.

Dr. Walker may recommend a retinal scan if you suffer from diabetes and / or macular degeneration. Most eye care professionals recommend that you have a comprehensive eye exam every 1-2 years, depending on your age and other risk factors, including if you currently wear eyeglasses or contact lenses.
